At present, she is at the helm of a global health management firm, where she leverages her extensive expertise to deliver superior healthcare services to a diverse international clientele.
Dr. Debru Gubba Addissae (Co-chairperson)
Gynecologist, Oberarzt Delitzsch Eilenburg Hospital, Germany
Dr. Debru Gubba Addissae, a distinguished Gynecologist, also commenced his medical journey at Addis Ababa University, Gondar College of Medical Sciences. He later honed his specialization in Gynecology at the Carl-Thieme-Klinikum in Cottbus, Germany. Dr. Debru has assumed senior roles in various German hospitals and currently serves at the Delitzsch Eilenburg Hospital. With a steadfast commitment over the past 15 years, he has significantly contributed to twinning programs between German and Ethiopian hospitals. These initiatives have been pivotal in training physicians, fostering research collaboration, and promoting student exchange programs.
Professor Dr. med. Sirak Petros (Co-Chair)
Director of the Medical ICU and the Center of Hemostaseology, University Hospital of Leipzig, Germany
Professor Sirak Petros is an alumnus from Addis Ababa University’s Gondar College of Medical Sciences in Ethiopia. He further specialized in Internal Medicine at the University of Leipzig in 1990 and completed a subspecialty in Intensive Care Medicine in 1996. Since 1990, Professor Petros has been affiliated with the University Hospital of Leipzig in Germany, ascending through various roles from a consultant internist to directorial positions. He is currently the esteemed Director of the Medical ICU and the Center of Hemostaseology at the same institution. Professor Petros is dedicated to enhancing the healthcare landscape in Ethiopia, particularly in Intensive Care Medicine. His vision includes building capacity in ‚Basic Critical Care‘ in Ethiopia to cultivate a network of highly skilled Critical Care Physicians. With over 120 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters, Professor Sirak Petros is a renowned expert in Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, and Hemostasis Research.
Dr. med. Aschalew Yemeni

Dr. Aschalew Yemeni has been a distinguished figure in the field of gynecology and obstetrics since assuming the role of Chief (Department Head) at Helios Klinik Schkeuditz Dr. Yemeni’s medical journey began at the Gonder College of Medical Sciences in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, an institution established in collaboration with the University of Leipzig. In 1986, he was among the seven exceptional graduates selected to continue their education in Leipzig, where he completed his specialty training at the University’s women’s clinic. Dr. Yemeni’s expertise deepened as he specialized in operative gynecology/oncology. He held senior positions in various clinics, further specializing in Gynecological Oncology and leading surgeries in breast centers.

Dr. med. vet. Aderajew Waka
Medical Research Scientist; Immunologist; Biomedicine & Biotechnology at the Charite‘-Medical University Berlin and DRFZ Berlin, Germany
Since the year 2000, Aderajew Waka has been a pivotal figure in the realms of clinical immunology, autoimmunology, and rheumatology at Charité-University Hospital and German Rheumatology Research Centre (DRFZ), Berlin. Here, he not only honed his skills but also achieved his doctorate. His research primarily focuses on immunology, autoimmune diseases, rheumatology, infection medicine, tropical medicine, global public health, global one health and zoonosis contributing significantly to the renowned Charité-University of Medicine,FU Berlin and the German Rheumatism Research Centre Berlin. Additionally, he is certified for drug safety and monitoring as well as medical products and medical devices. Beyond his clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Waka is passionately committed to the dissemination of knowledge. Since completing his training in Berlin, he has been actively involved in facilitating knowledge exchange between Germany and Ethiopia as well as networking the universities for bilateral cooperation/collaboration of two countries. In Ethiopia, he serves as a lecturer, seminar and course leader, capacity building and consultant at various universities. His efforts are aimed at bridging the gap in medical education, research and practices between different regions, nurturing the next generation of medical professionals in Ethiopia and beyond. He is actively involved to improve environmental health, climate change and community services cooperating with the universities in Ethiopia. Dr. Waka is also an ambassador of Brain City Berlin.

Alongside her husband Dr. Debru Addissae, she has been instrumental in training gynecologists in Ethiopia, leading a project since 2018 on surgical cancer treatment, pelvic floor surgery, and special obstetrics.
